Twiztid Haunted High-Ons: The Darkness Rises #3
Twiztid Haunted High-Ons: The Darkness Rises #3 Source Point Press 2019 Story Created by Twiztid & Dirk Manning Written by Dirk Manning Illustrated by Marianna Pescosta Coloured & Lettered by Alessandro De Fornasari Realising the true magnitude of the threat "The Darkness" presents, a daring plan is devised by our unlikely heroes... but when an army of seemingly unstoppable monsters appears, what starts as a rescue mission may turn into a suicide run! Only Dirk can write a book featuring a Hip Hop duo from Detroit who I have never heard of and make it into of the years must have comics. Oh yeah and make me a fan of their music in the process, I had to check em out and listen to their music if I was going to get a feel for how the characters were being portrayed here after all. I know he's working with the boys on this and they were reppin at SDCC which I wasn't there for dammit so the story, concept and premise is a real team effort. The opening here is so fantastic! That we finally get to see Paul pissed off and actually acting like a badass instead of the fool, the only problem with that is the hotheadedness of this is in reality working against him. Still yeah this is what I wanted to see, actual chutzpah and fighting prowess and boy does this team deliver that. I really like the way that this is being structured and that starts with the first page and carries on to the last. The way that we see the pacing here is extraordinary and how it manages to utilise the story & plot development and the character development to move everything ever forward shows Dirk's talent and skill as a writer. I like the fact that Jaime while still acting the fool goes to find Felicia, in a home where they did their thing which includes using the house like teenagers. The dialogue here is utterly marvellous and the tongue lashing was pure fun! Then of course there's his whole plea to Felicia to help him, including admitting he was wrong. Yeah this whole part was written so believably and it leaves a solid impression on the reader in more ways than one. The way Dirk is developing the characters in this slow forward moving way is actually something that is a smart move and it's kind of refreshing to see that. I really like the interiors here. The linework that Marianna is laying is strong stuff an that she's managing to utilise the varying weights to create this amazing attention to detail and how all of this makes an incredible comic book style art. Also the opening while Paul is in The Darkness I love the whites and blues that we see here pop in the work it is powerful and effectively done. When we see backgrounds being utilised they are sensational in how they expand the moments, like those little worm things crawling around, seeing the interior of the house, or pulling up to the abandoned house in the batmobile. Then there those blank backgrounds that disappoint, I mean it's established what is there so I'd love to see that extra mile gone to there as well. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show off a great eye for storytelling. The colour work throughout really finishes this off beautifully, I mean there are those moments where the colouring is to die for. The creativity and imagination that we see from everyone involved here from the writing to the lettering, I mean that skee was great, make this book what it is. It is solid, interesting and just a whole heck of a lot of fun. Seeing this makes me want to see a Scooby-Doo Team-Up, I mean they used Wanda Sykes after all. Regardless this is the BEST thing you aren't reading and that needs to change!

Horrorcore rap duo Twiztid are now the stars of their own comic book. Twiztid: Haunted High-Ons will debut at New York ComicCon in October before hitting shelves on November 1.
The one-shot comic is written by Twiztid - that's Jamie Madrox and Monoxide, for the uninitiated - and Dirk Manning, and it features artwork by Marianna Pescosta and Alessandro de Fornasari.
You can pre-order a copy from Source Point Press for $3.99 or an exclusive variant cover directly from Twiztid for $6.99.
Jamie Madrox and Monoxide - collectively known as the horror core rap duo Twiztid - have carved out a comfortable side-gig for themselves as fake ghost hunters... but what happens when a routine house call yields not only a ghost, but a killer demon to boot? Hijinks and horror, of course!
Watch the band's new animated music video for "Dead and Gone" below. The song comes from their latest album, The Continuous Evilution of Life’s ?’s, which came out in January.

Video Premiere: Twiztid Debuts New Animated Video, 'Dead and Gone'
yahoo
Those who are fans of horror, animation, comics, gaming, and rap are no doubt familiar with the duo Twiztid — who are purveyors of all mentioned. In fact, they are even releasing a brand-new comic book, which they will be signing at the upcoming New York ComicCon 2017 in October.
Twiztid: Haunted High-Ons is written by the demented duo themselves, along with famed comic writer Dirk Manning; it features illustration by renowned Italian artists Marianna Pescosta and Alessandro de Fornasari.
To add to the fun, Yahoo Music is excited to premiere the duo’s new animated music video for “Dead And Gone,” which is from their most recent full-length album, The Continuous Evilution of Life’s ?’s. This is their second animated video, considered a follow up to their 2009 video for “Buckets Of Blood.”
Twiztid
“We have talked about doing a REAL comic book for over a decade and it’s finally about to happen,” notes the duo. “If that’s not enough to put a smile on the ol’ face, then the fact our comic book will kick off at the New York ComicCon via the Source Point Booth with us, writer Dirk Manning and the creative team, is enough to leave us all laughing like lunatics!”
The New York ComicCon (@ New York’s Javits Center) signing will take place on Saturday, October 7 from 1-4pm at the Source Point Booth. For more information on the comic and signing, as well as Twiztid’s upcoming tour, visit here.

TALES OF MR. RHEE: Those Who Fight Monsters is Dirk Manning’s latest series involving the enigmatic and tough as nails Mr. Michael Rhee as well as others from Dirk’s “Nightmare World” universe. Mr Rhee is a demon hunter of sorts, a “paranormal troubleshooter” if you will, but not one of the “chosen one” variety. This ain’t Buffy. I think this description from a review of the previous mini series sums him up nicely.
“Seems when Mr. Rhee was younger he got involved in some bad magic and wound up marked and stalked for life by a demon he summoned. Does he curl up in a little ball? When the rapture/invasion occurs does he run and hide? No he treads through the post-rapture world helping where he can, though as they say if you need his help it’s probably already too late. This is a great character who’s been placed in some really rough situations. The plots Manning pens are sometimes horrifying, often hopeless, but his hero soldiers on. Admittedly when I first started reading (with no prior knowledge of the character and his world) I found myself scoffing at his resolve. How could anyone keep going through these adventures? But after I learned his background, and whether you read the collected volume one or the first issue of this new mini series you will get enough background, I realized that this was a seriously damaged and seriously repentant man. I don’t want to spoil this story for you but suffice to say his “teacher” in the dark arts was scum, and the things Michael went through in his care are truly horrifying.”
When we meet him in the current series we’re in a post Rapture world, some folks are handling it some not so much. Michael was up to his eyeballs in it and wound up committed to an insane asylum for his trouble. Normally that would’ve been a life sentence but for the help of a woman. A woman from a shadowy group who, like Michael, gets involved in all sorts of other-worldly business.
Now Michael needs to know if her organization, P.R.O.M.I.S.E., is trustworthy and he’s turning to an old friend for help. Mr Rhee’s life is never simple though and who knows what this intelligence gathering mission will unveil.
I’ve reviewed Dirk’s work before and it’s always a pleasure to read his stuff. It’s extremely well plotted, well paced, and the characters all feel real and solid, with personalities that stick from issue to issue. The art on this series comes from a few very talented individuals, issue one Alessandro de Fornasari, Marianna Pescosta, issue two Seth Damoose, and on issue 3 Austin McKinley, but even with all those different artists characters stay recognizable and true to form. Getting to visit Mr Rhee’s world of demons and normals, and the battles fought by, for, and around them is always a treat. Go check it out and see if you don’t get hooked!
Issue one of TALES OF MR. RHEE: Those Who Fight Monsters is also available as a web comic at Devil’s Due Entertainment’s website! The digital release of all three issues, as well as previous series, are available at comixology.com right now!

Twiztid Haunted High-Ons Darkness Rising #2
Twiztid Haunted High-Ons Darkness Rising #2 Source Point Press 2019 Story Created by Twiztid & Dirk Manning Written by Dirk Manning Illustrated by Marianna Pescosta Coloured & Lettered by Alessandro De Fornasari Upon learning the scope and power of "The Darkness" from Dr. Fallenlegna, unlikely heroes Madrox, Monoxide and Felicia find themselves at odds with each other about how to proceed. Should they follow the Doctor's orders, or is there a greater evil manipulating them all from the shadows? I will be honest if it weren’t for Dirk I wouldn’t have thought about even finding out who Twiztid were. Now I look forward to seeing these two do-fuss’ more than I ever thought I could. So leave it to Dirk to throw me for a massive curveball that I had no idea was approaching. The opening here is a direct lead in from the end of last issue and it doesn’t any more sense to me regardless of how many times I read it. I will say that it does exactly what an opening is supposed to do and that’s grab the readers’ attention, their imagination and immediately draws them in. Dirk does an amazing job with the way that this book is structured. The man has a way with words as well and if you’ve ever heard him talk or had a conversation with him you’d understand just how freakin talented he truly is using words. Now from the moment he appeared Dr. Fallenlegna has been one shady character and Felicia is the only who can see that, aside from us that is. His words and the way he talks to the boys makes it abundantly clear what he actually thinks of them. Their own dialogue and conversation away from the ahem good doctor makes it clear he isn’t that far off from the truth. The characterisation here is beyond fantastic. The dynamic between the boys and Felicia is wonderfully done. She is one side of the argument while Paul on the opposite side with Jamie caught in the middle and while he sees both sides of the argument he isn’t strong enough to go up against Paul and that’s a crying shame because at the moment he is the only level headed one among them and that’s with a big old spliff in his hands. It is too big to be a joint but ya never know. Bedsides Paul is angry and I don’t know why but the man-child seems to have a hair trigger at the moment. This is how damn good all this characterisation is. The interiors here keep impressing me. I really do like the way we see the linework being utilised through the varying weights to create some nice attention to detail. There is also a part of this at least in how I am seeing it that reminds me of the ScoobyNatural episode and that effin rocks! The only thing I would like to change here is to add more backgrounds into the panels. Otherwise what we see here has this nice strong, sure hand bringing all this to life. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a really good eye for storytelling. The colour work is phenomenal. Felicia’s ghost state is delightful, and that choice of wallpaper in the backgrounds holy mackerel is that stunning. The story & plot development here with the pacing and the character development, see characterisation, is why I love Dirk’s writing. That the boys stick together through thick and thin or dumb and dumber as the case may be is showcased extremely well. Add in all the sadness that comes from how things were left with Felicia and I couldn’t think of having a much better time reading than the potential within these pages. The whole concept from the ground up is incredibly well thought out and executed. This is why I think Source Point Press is quietly putting out some strong books that folks are finally starting to notice.

Twiztid Haunted High-Ons: The Curse of the Green Book #1
Twiztid Haunted High-Ons: The Curse of the Green Book #1 Source Point Press 2021 Story by Twiztid & Dirk Manning Written by Dirk Manning Illustrated by Marianna Pescosta Coloured & Lettered by Alessandro De Fornasari Still reeling from their last supernatural battle, Jamie and Paul join their ghostly companion Felicia on a trip to New Orleans... only to find themselves quickly drawn into a battle between the King and Queen of Voodoo over possession of an ancient and archaic tome of spells. Whose side should they take? Is The Darkness resurfacing in the Big Easy? And are those really zombies lurking in the distance? These folks have won me over and turned me into a Twiztid fan that’s for sure. I really enjoy the way that Dirk brings the boys to life and how they’ve got Felicia as their moral compass and/or their sense of reason is fantastic. Granted I never met the boys in real life but through the comic you kind of get the sense that they are caricatures of themselves that almost feel as if they’ve been Scoobified to some degree. I think that too lends an air of charm and endearment to the series as well because they are the reluctant ghost hunters who did this as a scam and discovered the real thing had plans for them. I am very much enjoying the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information are presented exceptionally well. The character development that we see through the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how we see them act and react to the situations and circumstances which they encounter does a magnificent job in fleshing out their personalities. The pacing is excellent and as it takes us through the pages introducing the story and the characters it leaves us wanting oh so much more. I think the way that we see this being structured and how the layers within the story begin to emerge and grow are exceptionally well crafted. I am also liking how we see the layers opening up new avenues to be explored. The Voodoo Queen and her less than subtle remarks which hopefully we’ll see a lot more explored. What this does is add so much depth, dimension and complexity to the story. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward are impeccably handled. I am really very much digging the interiors here as it has this great classic comic book style feel to the artwork. The linework is smooth, clean, crisp and strong while with the varying weights and techniques we see creating the detail work we see throughout is pretty extraordinary stuff. I would like to see more backgrounds being utilised but what we do see along with how we see the composition within the panels enhances and expands the moments as well as bringing out the depth perception, sense of scale and that overall sense of size and scope to the story. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a remarkable eye for storytelling. The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work show a superb eye for how colour works. Also the techniques we see with laying the colour down are extremely nice to see. If you haven’t picked up the first arc don’t worry this is new reader friendly and you’ll be able to follow along without any trouble whatsoever. Fans of the last arc should rejoice that the boys are back for round two and it looks like it’s going to be another humdinger of a case. Courtesy of the smart, witty writing and the excellent characterisation alongside these fantastic interiors we are certainly in for a much needed treat.
